Healing for the Triune Man

Jesus came to minister to the Tri-unity of man; spirit, soul, and body. It is true. According to the Scriptures, we are 3 part beings consisting of spirit, soul, and body (1 Thes 5:23; Heb 4:12). Equally as important, Scriptures also declare that God made us in His image, according to His likeness (Gen 1:26), and since God is a Triune being, it only stands to reason that we are too. Thus, for us to experience health and wholeness, all three parts of us need to be in alignment with God's heart for us.

What is God's heart? He revealed His heart, when He sent Jesus to the earth, as a man, who is the exact representation of God (Col 1:15 AMP). The word of God tells us that Jesus came to reconcile man to himself; to redeem him from sin and restore our fellowship with God (Eph 1:7; 2 Cor 5:18-19). As such, when we believe in our hearts and confess with our mouth's that Jesus Christ is Lord, that He is God in the flesh, then we are forgiven of all our sins and reconciled back to God (Romans 10:9-10, 13). At that moment, we are new creations in Christ (2 Cor 5:17)! Our spirit is born again. We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, not by our works lest anyone should boast! Before this experience with Jesus, our spirit is separate from God, and it is hungry for spiritual things. It is hungry to be joined and be one spirit with Him (1 Cor 6:17). Jesus came to minister to the SPIRIT part of man.

The word of God also tells us, that Jesus Christ came to heal the brokenhearted and set the captives free (Psalm 147:3; Isaiah 61:3; Luke 4:18). All throughout Scripture we see Jesus caring for man's emotions and his mental health. Many who had a mental illness, were healed or delivered and set free (See Matthew 17:14-18; Luke 9:42). We also see that healing for our soul (mind, will & emotions), is partly our responsibility. We must learn to align it with the truth of God's word. In this way, our minds can be renewed to His heart, which is peace, joy, and love (Prov 4:22; 12:25; 15:13; 16:24; Romans 12:2; Eph 4:23). God's word is medicine! Moreover, soul health is also attained & relieved through prayer (Phil 4:6-8; 1 Peter 5:7; Matthew 11:28-30) as well as the confession of sin (James 5:14-16). As the Scriptures declare, Jesus came to minister to the SOUL part of man.

Finally, we see Jesus who was moved with compassion towards multitudes of people oppressed by physical sickness (Matthew 9:35-36; 11:4-6; 14:14; Mark 1:41; Luke 7:21-22). He healed the blind, made the lame to walk and He healed all kinds of illness and disease (Matthew 8:2-3; 6-13; 9:2-7; 14-15; 20:30-34; 21:14; John 6:2; Mark 6:53-56; 9:20-22; Acts 3:2-8; 4:22). Too numerous to count. Nothing was too hard for Him. Not even demon possession (Matthew 8:16-17; 28-32; Mark 6:13). The Gospels reveal that anyone who went to Jesus was healed. He never turned one person away! In fact, many were offended by this, and many are still today. Jesus knew this. He knew people would be offended by the reality of His power, willingness and ability to heal. He said, "Blessed is he who is not offended because of me" (Luke 7:23). He said this right after declaring, "Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hears, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them." Beloved, Jesus came to minister to the BODY part of man.

If Jesus still saves, then surely He continues to heal today; spirit, soul, and body. In fact, I and many others, are living proof of His healing power! And instead of Jesus healing us directly as when He walked the earth, He has chosen to give us authority over sickness, disease, demons and evil powers just as He did the Apostles, prophets, and disciples in the Word of God. Healing, like salvation, is already finished. But we the body of Christ must learn God’s principles and spiritual laws. In Matthew 10:1 & 8, as well as Luke 9:1-2, Jesus gave power to His 12 disciples over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and disease. Then He instructed them to go out make disciples (Matthew 28:19-20), and those who believe and are baptized will be saved, AND these signs will follow; speak in new tongues,...and lay hands on the sick and they will recover (Mark 16:15-18). Jesus has commissioned us to make disciples as He made disciples, teaching them to observe ALL that He has said and done.

Moreover, in Ephesians 4, Jesus has equipped the Church Leadership with ministry gifts of Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers. More often than not, Apostles flow in almost all the supernatural spiritual gifts in 1 Cor 12, and Prophets flow in Words of Wisdom, Words of Knowledge, discerning of spirits and prophecy. But that is not to say that they are the only ones in these ministry leadership roles, that flow in the supernatural gifts of the spirit. I've seen Evangelists & Pastors flow in gifts of healings, as well as working of miracles and I've witnessed teachers flow in the gift of faith and so forth. These spiritual gifts are distributed to each one individually as the Spirit of God wills for the profit of all (1 Cor 12:11).

You see, the Church was never meant to be run by one man in a hierarchical position. Instead, Jesus revealed in the Scriptures, that a healthy Church is run by a team of individuals, called, appointed and anointed to equip the saints (Eph 4:11-12; 1 Cor 12:28-31).

Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Teachers, and Pastors, are not gender specific and are the leadership team of a healthy church.

Have you ever seen it this way?;

Apostles & Evangelists have hearts for the lost and often are anointed to heal physical bodies. They are equipped to bring healing to our SPIRIT & BODY Prophets & Pastors have hearts for the mind, will, and emotions of man. They are often anointed to heal the brokenhearted and set the captives free. They are equipped to bring healing to our SPIRIT & SOUL. Teachers have hearts to teach the truth. They are anointed to preach the Word, "for you will know the Truth, and the truth will set you free" They are equipped to bring healing to our SOUL.

Now not everyone is called to ministry as an Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Pastor or Teacher but that doesn't mean a person can't be anointed to minister through gifts of the Spirit which differ from the ministry gifts. God is limitless, and the Spirit of God gives supernatural gifts as He wills to do for the profit of all (as stated in 1 Cor 12). My point in all of this is to share the reality that Jesus is still healing and ministering to the triunity of man because Jesus lives inside of every born-again believer.

He has commanded ALL to desire the best (supernatural Spirit) gifts (1 Cor 12:31). He has encouraged ALL to pursue love, and desire supernatural spiritual gifts, but especially that we may prophesy (1 Cor 14:1). He has called SPECIFIC people to ministry gifts; He gave some to be Apostles, Prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ (Eph 4:11-12).

God has dealt with each one a measure of faith in other gifts that differ according to His grace. We are to use them. If prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith. Or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness (Romans 12:3-8).

Why all the gifts? Because our God cares for our spirit, soul, and body! He desires that we prosper, and be in good health.

Can you see that the whole purpose of our sin-bearing Messiah was to heal the triune man as prophesied in Isaiah 53:4-5, " Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions; He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes, we are healed."

In Luke 4:17-19, Jesus confirms this prophecy in the Synagogue in Nazareth. He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah, and He read, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord."

Beloved, the nails in Jesus hands and feet that nailed Him to the cross, is a representation of God's love for us through Christ. Because of His death and resurrection, we can be healed; spirit, soul, and body.

Come to the well and let Jesus restore you!
